This course will covers concept of biodegradability in polymer, measurement of biodegradation, factors affecting biodegradability & its affects to the environment. Students will also learn about the legislation for respective standards, norms and certifications. Polymer recovery, recycling, sustaining and biodegradation are discussed. Thermal destruction of plastic wastes is also highlighted.
This course covers types of reactor in step-growth and chain-growth polymerizations with specific examples from industry. Material balance in different type of reactors is taught. A few major issues in selected industry polymerization processes are also discussed. Effects of process variables in polymerization processes and reactor dynamics or stability were also highlighted. Types of on-line monitoring and control used in industry were outlined.

This course will cover on basic rheology concept, flow patterns of Newtonian & Non-Newtonian fluids, relationship for shear viscosity functions, rheometry, constitutive theories and equations for suspensions, flow in polymer processing.
- This course is aimed at providing students with information on the types of polymer and the average molecular weight concept; various polymerisation processes; copolymerisation processes as well as polymer degradation and the methods to control it. Students also carry out the polymerisation processes in laboratory sessions.

Effect of shape factor and lamination to deformation are explained. Dynamic mechanical behaviour and its effect to rubber is also highlighted. Some common applications in rubber engineering were discussed.
