CLB 10502 is an introduction to computer programming. Programming is the art of explaining to a computer what you want it to do, in exact detail and in a language that the computer can understand. Programming is only one part of computer science, but it is the most basic and most central part. It is an activity that requires you to think logically, to solve problems, to express yourself clearly, and often to endure a certain amount of frustration as you try to get your programs to work. The result, though, can be very rewarding.

This course has no prerequisites, although a general familiarity with computers would certainly be helpful.

Rationale for inclusion of the course in the program:

To provide students with strong fundamental knowledge of air pollution control techniques, including basic design of air pollution control unit and air quality rules and regulations in EQA 1974.

This module introduces fluids and its properties together with examples of fluid applications in industry. It also covers static and dynamic characteristics of fluids as well as pressure measurements, Bernoulli’s Equation and its applications in flow measurement, concept oh head loss which comprises major losses and minor losses and drag on immersed bodies. Concepts in selecting and analyzing components of fluid also will be introduced in this module.

The concept of innovation as a management discipline focuses on achieving the organizational vision. It searches for unique opportunities in determining whether they fit the organizational strategic direction. The process involves evaluating opportunities and their rate of success.

This course includes application of equilibrium theory and rate considerations to theory and practice of diffusion process, distillation process, absorption process and extraction process.

This module covers the important aspects of workplace communication. Students will first be introduced to the theory of communication followed by several important workplace communication tasks like writing business letters, memos and e-mails. This module will also expose students to correct and effective presentation techniques, which will enable them to present and communicate effectively in public/during meetings

This modulefocuses on equipping students with appropriate technical communication skills and skills in writing a technical report. Student will embark on a technical writing project where they will be exposed to the proper method in writing an engineering report. Student will also be exposed to theindustry and they will be required to contacta particular person related to the topic chosen. Once the person is identified, students will be required to correspond with him/her formally where the students will be needed to set a meeting to interview the person that they have selected.

The module content shall be discipline-based.

This course aims to improve students’ ability as language learners.This course will equip students with important reading skills (suffixes, prefixes, contextual clues and dictionary skills).Apart from that, students will also be exposed to basic sentence structures (simple, compound and complex).Students will also be identifying basic sentence errors (fragments, dangling modifiers etc).As a final assessment, students will be required to prepare an article review based on the text they have chosen. During this final assessment, they will utilize reading and writing skills taught at the initial stage.

This course is aimed at providing basic knowledge and principles of water quality, types, sources and also the wastewater treatment processes.
